Wilmslow’s Way Better
In 2021, the brand development and management of Cheshire’s affluent town, Wilmslow, was a top priority post pandemic. The more traditional destination marketing approach was replaced by strategic placemaking marketing.
This small town with a big offer was analysed and a consumer brand was developed – Wilmslow’s Way Better. This brand was launched in November 2021 – now it just needed the rockstar touch to bring it to life on social media.
The implementation of Wilmslow’s Way Better required several adjustments to the current digital marketing, social media and communications activity. Our team at real5 Digital were appointed to plan, coordinate, and manage the digital marketing for the new brand including:
- Content marketing
- Social media management including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
- Business and Community liaison
- Paid Facebook advertising
Suitable topics and themes were prepared and communicated. This integrated approach went beyond the concept of target groups and instead embraced the idea of “one town– one brand”, with a focus on external communications via social media, blogging, print and email.
The social media channels we created have attracted over 1000 people per channel in just 4 months and we have been able to build a strong database of people to talk to about the wider offer and events. We have received extremely positive feedback from Wilmslow residents and businesses alike.
As a result of the social media campaigns, Wilmslow Town Council has doubled the programme of events from previous years.
